Attendance
It is to your child's benefit to attend preschool regularly. Please call the school if your child will be absent. Send a note with your child when he or she returns to school. Please call the school or send a note if your child has an appointment during class time.
Holy Rosary Family Folder
Holy Rosary Catholic School publishes a weekly newsletter. The newsletter and all other school communications will be delivered to you through the family folder. The folder comes home every Tuesday. The folders are sent home with the oldest child in your family. Please read the materials and sign the folder before returning it to school each week.
Service Time/Class Volunteers
All parents of Holy Rosary students are required to provide 25 hours of service per family, per year to Holy Rosary School or the parish. All persons doing service must take the Safe Environment Class. Parents, volunteers, and visitors must check in and out at the school office and wear a volunteer/visitor badge while on school grounds. Volunteers are always welcome in our class (after the first six weeks of school) to assist the children during centers or for special days. If you are unable to volunteer in the classroom, I can send items needed for future classroom activities for you to prepare at home. Please read Holy Rosary's Parent Handbook for other ways to volunteer at school. You may sign up for your classroom volunteer time at Back to School Night or when you bring your child to class.
Helping Hands
Occasionally special items are needed for planned learning activities or we run out of supplies purchased at the beginning of the year. When this happens I will write each needed item (with a date that it is needed by) on a hand cutout and place them on the classroom door. If you are able to "lend a hand" by purchasing an item, simply take the hand cutout and bring the item to school.
Backpack
The backpack you send to school with your child must be one your child can manipulate and must be labeled with your child's name. THIS BACKPACK IS A MUST EVERY DAY! This establishes a regular rountine that is needed throughout your child's school career.
Classroom Communication Folder
Please leave this blue folder in your child's backpack and check this folder daily. We will put all classroom communication in this folder and we will check it for communication from you. The class newsletter, calendar, and book orders will be sent home in the folder. Weekend Work will also be sent home in the folder and should be returned in the folder.
Homework
In preschool we call this Weekend Work. The Weekend Work page will be sent home on Thursday in your child's blue classroom folder and it is to be returned in the blue classroom folder on the following Tuesday. The purpose of the weekend work is to prepare your child for the letter that will be introduced on the Tuesdsay of the upcoming week and help us build our ABC Wall in the classroom. Having weekend work also helps your child transition into pre-kindergarten. You will receive more information the first week Weekend Work comes home.
Uniforms and Clothing
Please see the Holy Rosary Parent Handbook for uniform guidelines. Please send your child to school in uniform clothing that will allow for freedom of movement. The students will be particpating in large motor skills and games every day. Therefore, they need to dress appropriately. Students need to wear comfortable shoes so they can run and play the games and either pants or dresses with shorts underneath so they can do the skills required for large motor development. Please send a jacket with your child everyday so he or she will be dresed appropratley for outside activities. Also, if you child wears boots to school, please put shoes in his or her packpack.
ALL of your child's clothing that comes to school needs to be clearly labeled with his or her name. This includes backpacks, jackets, sweaters, all outerwear (gloves, hats, boots, etc.), and lunch boxes.
You may send an extra uniform (please label all items) for your child to keep at school in case of an accident if you wish.

Class Newsletter
A monthly class newsletter and calendar will be sent out by the first week of each month. These are to inform you of the planned learning experiences for the month. The calendar will have our daily theme, our Bible story for the day, and other important dates. These will come home in your child's blue classroom folder.
Snacks
We will have snack every class time. Since our time together is so short, snack time is also used as a time for learning. Snack time is sometimes an extension of our lesson/theme (having a snack that starts with the letter that was introduced, a snack that is a certain color or shape, etc.) or used to teach about our faith (special snacks on feast days, doughnuts on Mardi Gras, etc.) We also practice our manners, pour our own water, strengthen our muscles, and clean up after ourselves during snack. If you are able to help provide snacks for the class, please let me know. If your child has any food allergies, it is very important that we be notified.
