Separation
Parent-child separation is sometimes a concern for families. We have found that reassuring your child that you will be back and then leaving right away usally works best. It helps your child to adjust to the routine faster. Most of the time the tears stop before the parent is even out the door. It is not uncommon for separation anxiety to arise even several weeks after the start of school. If you are uncomfortable with this suggestion, you are welcome to stay for a short while. Please discuss any concerns you may have with me.
Young children are sometimes not ready emotionally for teh structure and group participation required in a preschool setting. If your child is having difficulty adjusting to and coping with the school environment, I will contact you.
