These are the specific goals I have in mind when planning our learning activities.

- recognize his or her own first name
- say the alphabet (rote memory)
- begin to recognize the letters of the alphabet
- use words to express feelings to friends and teachers
- share and take turns
- work together (with movement toward cooperative play with three or more other children)
- share and take turns
- sit in a group
- wash hands properly
- recognize ten standard colors
- recognize basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, and oval)
- count objects to 10
- develop the skills to manipulate his or her own clothing
- attempt to properly hold a pencil, crayon, paint brush, scissors, and other tools presented (mastery is not expected, however, proper handling of tools is encouraged)
- cut out simple objects on bold lines
